Gregor Hildebrandt

Berlin-based artist Gregor Hildebrandt (b. 1974 in Germany) addresses systems of culture production and culture mediation. In particular, materials from the culture industry, such as records, audio tape, video cassettes or celluloid, are combined in minimalist installations that open up new layers of perception for these familiar media. In the former Werkerei kiosk, this artist now presents his collection of white pawns. Usually worthless “cannon fodder” in chess, these white figures from all around the world gather here to form a vibrant cosmopolitan ensemble.
